Welp, i’m twenty-four today, folks.
I’m sitting in my new dining room (pictured above - pretty sweet, huh?), watching the sun rise over the mountains on what looks to be shaping up to another beautiful seattle day with the cutest black lab ever at my feet.
As I do every year on my birthday, since it’s impossible not to with the overwhelming texts, facebook posts and calls, I...

I was just alerted that based on the sounds of my blog, I must need worrying about. I’m here to quickly put those thoughts to rest because I absolutely do not need anyone to worry about how I’m doing out here.
Yes, things aren’t going as planned but if you know me at all - you know that something like unplanned circumstances will not keep me down. Actually, I’ve had the...

Things I would really appreciate receiving on the day I turn 24:
This rad mpls sign for my new bedroom wall.
The entirety of the UO wishlist I have already emailed to certain family members. If you’d like a copy, I can make that happen.
Drinks here, apps here, entrees here and dessert here.
A visit from someone I think is really cool. Oh wait…I’m already getting that. Big...
my reader.
Thank buhjeezus for Google Reader because without this genius invention, there is no way I’d keep up on the zillion blogs I follow. I think that a look into my reader is a pretty solid description of my interests and ways in which I choose to waste my time/learn about all things important in the world. Because of this, I always wish I could peek into other people’s “blog...

Things I am excited about:
My birthday is in less than one month. Don’t worry, wish list coming soon.
I am going to see this surf-guitar phenom in concert on friday evening.
Remember how I said my girlfriends and I were going to Boise? Well, we changed that to Denver…and it’s happening in 72 days!
desert lovers.
Today I am thinking about my sista and brotha who recently followed their dreams, packed their lives into a small car and moved out to phoenix.
I know they are also facing some new-city challenges but I am SO confidant that once things settle down they are going to do amazing things, meet unbelievable people and grow exponentially as people and as a couple.
Can’t wait to visit!
kick butt, butt kick.
You know when you have something big planned out in your head exactly how you’d like it to go, like a trip or a date or having friends in town for the weekend? Well, I am a chronic “future-memory-planner” and when things don’t go exactly how I hoped they would, I tend to get a little bent out of shape. It’s something I’ve been working on for a couple years now,...

My new favorite word: convivial.
Do you guys know this word? Am I weird for never hearing/knowing of it before?
Well, I’m going to assume I’m not a complete idiot and that I did graduate from the country’s first (and best) Journalism school and hope that not all of you know the definition of this word-that-defines-my-soul.
convivial : relating to, occupied with, or fond...

Currently: Roasting an entire head of cauliflower with garlic, lemon juice, olive oil and maybe too much truffle salt for lunch. Oh and I’ll be topping it with grated raw parm and pairing it with an Alaska IPA. Pretty delicious sounding monday afternoon lunch, if ya ask me.

Favorite (or all) things I did while home, in no particular order:
Catch-up lunch with the lovely Jenn here, family game night (“RETAINED!”), ginger martinis at moto-i with lauren, sister and lindsey, rang in the new year while dancing to this song with this mustached man, Christmas in Spamtown, USA, was reacquainted with Craig’s mussels and Tracy’s wine list, ate lutefisk...

tonight.
What’s on my docket for the evening? Wellll, since you’re asking…
Deeelicious vino and cheese (and maybe, possibly, hopefully some mussels or scallops) with my Mallory at the one at only Terra Wacona - where I will be reunited with Tracy and Craig.
Then, we’ll wander over to Mocha Monkey to meet my wonderful mother and more friends and watch Jenn Bostic perform a little...

We just planned a weekend trip to Boise, Idaho, of all places. March 23, get here now.
my heart.
I hope everyone had a very merry, merry christmas. I have been back in mn for a few days and am having a blast. Though I had been prepared to stay in washington for the holidays, I can’t tell you how grateful I now am that it worked out for me to come home.
Thursday night was a rambuncous evening of family game night. Lots of cheese, wine and competitive spirit. In other words, my perfect...

Yesterday was my little sistah’s 22nd birthday.
Here is a short list of things I looooove about this firecracker:
1. Her insane internet searching skills.
2. The way she knows to always sing the melody in songs so I can harmonize.
3. How she puts her finger under her nose every time she laughs really hard.
4. Her love for all things wedding.
5. The way she makes me feel that...

I am officially a certified coffee expert. Well…maybe not, but I’m working on it.
Since arriving in this land o’ caffeine, I have felt wayyyy behind on my espresso skills and knowledge. And now that I’m working brunches at Tilth, I felt I needed to take some action to correct that. People in this city would be sure to let me know if their macchiato wasn’t up to...

Worries/questions that go though my head when I think about going home….
My flight lands at 8:30am, The Pig opens at 11:30am. What will I do for those 3 hours?
Should I make reservations for Terra on the 23rd? Or wait until after Christmas?
I wonder if the Bahn Mi is still on Blackbird’s menu?
Ridge at Lucia’s or Kings? Or both?
Which days does Wise Acre do brunch again?

I have to tell you…it feels good to be happy right now. That seems like an obvious statement but really, I’m so lucky to be a happy girl.
This song just came on, and I danced like a loser in my kitchen alone for the entirety of it - looking out my window at a sunny Seattle day. No snow, huge beautiful green trees, and mountains (a landscape I now can’t imagine living...

I have a secret to tell you…I have an addiction. Katherine and I discuss it often and try to figure out a way to ween myself off of it but I can’t seem to. And now that she’s in Minnesota and I’m alone in Seattle for two weeks - I know it’s going to get out of hand.
It’s Goodwill. I’m literally addicted to bargain shopping at Goodwill, and Goodwill...
